About

Zahra is a beautiful, intelligent and highly educated young Hausa woman born into one of the wealthiest families in Northern Nigeria. Behind the walls of her father's magnificent mansion, however, lies a childhood marked by loss, manipulation and a terrifying secret. At the age of ten, Zahra loses her beloved mother after her father brings another woman into the family. The mysterious mistress soon becomes Zahra's stepmother, bringing her own daughter into the household. As Zahra grows older, she is neglected, bullied and treated as an unwanted child. Then something terrifying happens. During one brutal confrontation, Zahra loses control of a mysterious supernatural power hidden inside her. Her family witnesses her terrifying strength and begins calling her "Yar Shedan" — the daughter of the devil. Her father sends her away to her maternal grandmother, who becomes the only person capable of protecting and understanding her. With the help of spiritual elders, Zahra learns to control the darkness within her and is given a protective amulet. Before her grandmother dies, she makes Zahra promise one thing: no matter what anyone does to her, she must never remove it. Years later, Zahra returns to her father's luxurious household and begins a new life at an elite school. She chooses peace over revenge, even when jealous students and her own stepsister repeatedly provoke and humiliate her. But Zahra's silence is mistaken for weakness. When her only true friend becomes the target of a cruel attack, Zahra's restraint finally breaks, unleashing a power she has spent years trying to suppress. As the consequences spread, Zahra discovers that the secrets surrounding her mother's death, her stepmother's rise to power and the mysterious force inside her are all connected. Along the way, she meets a man who is not frightened by her secret and becomes the first person to love Zahra for who she truly is. But love may not be enough. Because the deeper Zahra searches for the truth, the more she discovers that her family has been hiding a devastating secret for years — and the woman she calls her stepmother may be at the center of it all. ZAHRA: The Curse of Silence is a Hausa supernatural mystery-romance filled with wealth, family betrayal, manipulation, forbidden secrets, powerful emotions, cultural identity and unexpected twists. Every revelation brings Zahra closer to the truth — and closer to discovering why she was chosen to carry the power inside her.
