When a mysterious stranger offers her one wish in exchange for her shadow, she accepts, believing she has nothing left to lose. Her wish comes true—but so does something far more terrifying. Her shadow begins to move on its own, appearing where she isn't and leading her toward a forgotten secret buried deep within the village. As Nkiru searches for answers, she discovers that she is not the first person to make the bargain—and that the price of her wish may be far greater than she ever imagined. She wanted a better life.
